Keeping your child active during the winter

In the summer, it’s easy to keep your kids active. Trips to
the park and days out at the beach all get your children running around and
using up some of their seemingly limitless supply of energy.
When the weather turns nastier in the winter, this isn’t
possible, so it can be much more difficult to get your kids exercising. This
handy guide has some suggestions that will stop your little ones from turning
into couch potatoes during the cold snap.
Indoor classes

Football is a great team activity that the majority of
children enjoy. Swamp-like pitches and tough frozen ground are hardly ideal for
your little footballers to play on, but it doesn’t mean that they have to
resign themselves to simply watching the sport on the TV.
There are a number of indoor football pitches across the
country that would be the perfect location for a kickabout. These are
relatively cheap to hire, so the costs will be minimum if all of the parents
chip in.
Dancing is another great way to get your kids’ hearts
pumping. Ballet will help to build up your child’s strength, as well as
improving their posture, flexibility and grace. Disco and tap dancing are both
energetic alternatives for those excitable little monkeys.
Whichever style of dance you choose, your little ones will
have to look the part regardless. Dancemania
stocks a great range of stunning girl’s leotards
that would be just perfect for their classes.
Swimming is another great sport that your children are sure
to love. What better way to get some exercise than by splashing around in the
pool for an hour or two? Emerging from the leisure centre with wet hair in
sub-zero temperatures is a recipe for disaster, so make sure your kids are
wrapped up warm. A swimmingcap, like this one from Simply Swim, is a good idea too, to keep your kids’
hair dry.
Outdoor fun

When it’s raining or windy, you and your kids will want to
hibernate in front of the TV and wait until the summer sun reappears. However,
there’s one weather condition that we don’t mind braving the cold for – snow!

We all hope for snow over the festive period, as we all wish
for that magical white Christmas. Snow is actually really good for keeping your
kids active. Whether it’s making snowmen, throwing snowballs or running up a
hill after a spot of sledging, your kids will love playing in the snow and it
will keep them active too. Let’s just hope the weatherman delivers this year!
