Cbeebies Swashbuckle Magazine Review

Each weekend the children love taking their pocket money down to our local shop and hunting through the magazines to find the one with the best freebies and their favourite characters. For P its always something with her favourite pop group on and a piece jewellery but the boys love their Cbeebies magazine’s. This is why we were so excited to receive our first copy of ‘Swashbuckle magazine’.

Tinie loves to dress up as a pirate lately and enjoys making maps and finding treasure with his sister, when I handed over this magazine the boys shared out the treasure and sat to excitedly flick through the magazine together. This week the toys consisted of a treasure box and jewels, pirate hat and spinner. The toys are surprisingly well made the boys have been using them in their play all week.

The Swashbuckle magazine is packed full of things to keep the children interested and challenge them through 7 areas of learning; feeling good, physical development, maths, communication & language, being creative, finding out, and literacy. These link nicely into the EYFS ( Early Years Foundation Stage).

You’ll notice as you go through the magazine each page has a little sign top right saying which area of learning is being primarily supported on that page. There is a great range of activities to encourage children’s fine motor skills, drawing and counting. Little man loved using scissors to cut out the puppets to walk the plank and using the spinner to make up his own Swashbuckle name.

This magazine has so much to offer, Once the children have finished all the activities in the magazine you could flick back through and give the interactive smartphone features hidden inside a go. Packed with interactive content of videos and songs– videos and so on, and QR codes which contain links to various places on the CBeebies website.

The Swashbuckle magazine costs £2.75 which is great value for a magazine packed full of so much.
